| Description | Sister Cherubim Schafer (1886-1977), pictured here in 1954, started St. Joseph's Convent Conservatory of Music on August 11, 1924. By 1951, under the name Alverno College of Music, it merged with two other School Sister institutions, Alverno Teacher's College and Sacred Heart School of Nursing, to form what is now Alverno College. Sister Cherubim was head of the school until 1935 when she moved to the Campbellsport Convent to compose fulltime. |
